On May 26, 2012 the radio and TV airwaves were silenced forever for Kenneth Duke, professional broadcaster and Professor Of Broadcasting at Confederation College. Ken was born in Toronto KEW beach area on September 20, 1934 to the delight of his parents Jack and Dorothy Duke. He grew up with the ideal family surrounded by love.

Ken discovered his passion for broadcasting in the 50's at Ryerson University which lead to a long successful broadcasting career. Upon moving to Thunder Bay in the 70's, he began his teaching career at Confederation College. Ken fought hard to establish the state of the art Broadcasting Studio constructed on campus that opened the doors for educating the most successful broadcasters in the country. He was proud of all his students over his 25 years of teaching.

Ken will be sadly missed by his wife Joanne. They recently celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary in their favorite place, Madeira Beach, Florida with all their good friends down south. Also survived by his sister Debbie (Joel Rowe), Toronto, brother Jim Duke (Ruth), Buffalo, New York, step-brother David Duncan (Leslie), Toronto, daughter Cynthia Duke, Spain, mother-in-law Margaret Bobinski, brother-in-law Henry Bobinski (Lynda) and numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and the United States. Ken was predeceased by his father Jack Duke, mother Dorothy (Duke) Hart, step-father Joe Hart and recently his father-in-law John Bobinski. Ken will be missed by all his wonderful friends around the world.

Ken loved all his animals and is dearly missed by his dogs Remy and Bailey. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 North Court Street, with Rev. Lloyd Ivany presiding. All services will be complete in the chapel. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests memorials to: A bursary for Broadcasting TV Production Program in memory of Kenneth Duke at Confederation College Foundation or the Thunder Bay & District Humane Society.
